DVD Duel to the Death
20th Century Fox

image

A very nice image, of course better than the Megastar or Deltamec edition, and close to the french one. The only difference is the compression (better on the french, thanks to only one audio track), and the cleaness (better on the Fox edition). Otherwise, that's not very sharp (some scenes are ok, some are quite blurred), with decent colors and deep blacks.

sound

A very impressive 5.1 remix. When it comes to remixes from a mono source, there are very convincing results. But this one is particularly well done, with strong musics, precise sound effects, and impressive atmospheres. Of course, that's no Matrix Reloaded, but from a mono source, that's more than enough. However, some will probably complain about the too high quality of some sound effects compared to the dialogs and musics.

subtitles

Good english subs technically speaking, but the translation is really poor. The meaning is sometimes far from the real dialogs, and the old fashioned chinese is translated into a very simple and modern english. In a few words, it sucks.

special features

Some trailers... For this price, we will forget about this lack.

menus

Decent animated menus and cover, but that's weak compared to the french edition. The price is not the same however...

quality/price ration

A nice edition, with a very decent image and an interesting audio remix. At this cheap price, that's a very competitive opponent for the french DVD, but sadly the subs are clearly not up to the rest.
