Colette KOO

Koo was born in London and moved back to Hong Kong at an early age. She completed her secondary school in the UK and in 1984 received a BA(Hons) in Graphics Design from Chelsea School of Art, majoring in photography. Then after 7 years of working, in 1991, she returned to the UK to study and graduate in drama from LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts).

Since gaining her first degree, Koo’s career spanned areas of graphic design, media, event management, art direction, film production, performance and business management. She had worked with Bertolucci on ‘The Last Emperor’, Spielberg on ‘Empire of the Sun’ and on many Shaw Studio and Golden Harvest films. This background seems diverse, yet inevitably centers round her love of people, film and the arts.

In 2000, Koo went back to Hong Kong where she started, and still owns, a hugely successful cocktail bar/club and a renowned restaurant. Finally in 2004, she returned to the film industry by first producing the short film ‘Taped’, starring Maggie-Q and Carl Wu. Following the interest generated through the film’s Official Selection at the 2005 I Shot Hong Kong, and Nomination for an IFVA Award in 2006, she is now in the midst of producing several feature films including the Anthony Wong Chau-sang starrer ‘Jessica Caught on Tape’.
