New movie: My Spy Dad
Still showing in cinemas in Hong Kong,
My Spy Dad is the new Wong Jing's comedy, and it delivers what should be expected, as well for the qualities (brainless humors, crazy performances from the cast) as for the lacks (poor directing, stupid storyline). It's certainly not Jing's best movie, but also certainly not the worse. Francois tells you more about it in his review.
HKLegends DVD Reviews
Two old HKLegends DVDs are reviewed this week. Both them present a very nice image, but also some lacks when it comes to the sound. Read Francois's review to learn more about those two discs.
Fresh reviews from Hong Kong
September has been an excellent month for HK movies, with four of them leading the box office. Those four movies are reviewed, and we add the review for two new movies,
The Floating Landscape and
Warriors of Heaven and Earth, two totally different movies. A triad movie, a comedy, two romances, an epic movie, and an undefinable movie from Milkyway, everybody should be able to find something interesting in this list. Enjoy!
Fresh news: Heroic Duo
The new Benny "Moment of Romance" Chan has been released on DVD, the casting features Ekin, Leon, Francis and Karena. That's obviously not a masterpiece, but this cop actioner has still enough qualities to become a solid entertainer. Check out our review, and DVD test.
New on DVD: Twins Effect
The vampire-kung-fu-teen-pop-comedy blockbuster has just been released on DVD. Totally silly with a brainless messy script, but with funny moments and a very decent technical level, it won't surely match with the best fantastic or kung-fu movies, but it's still a very HK-like attempt to entertain people.
