Mei Ah DTS, 16:9 - remastered edition

+: quite sharp for such an old movie, decent compression when you know that there are 4 5.1 tracks, colors are quite vivid

-: the compression can't be perfect with so many sound tracks, the backgrounds are not very stables and some dark scenes clearly display compression problems, the print is quite dirty

sound

The 5.1 remix is a bit strange to hear, as the sound effects sound quite messy. They are not very precisely located. It doesn't sound as awful as a bad Universe remix (Righting Wrongs, Righting Wrongs!), but it could have been a lot better. Many people won't really care, but demanding viewers will surely find it a bit too much. Except that, you can also notice that the voices and musics sound too low compared to the effects. The musics would have also been more efficient if played on the surround speakers. But they stay all the time on the front speakers mainly.

subtitles

Some big spelling mistakes and typography errors make the subtitles less good than expected.

special features

Almost nothing, the story and crew... Disappointing, a trailer wouldn't be too much.

menus

The animated menus are not looking great, but maybe they try to imitate the bad taste of the movie. The cardboard case is quite good looking though.

quality/price ration

That's surely not a definitive edition for this movie. With the original soundtrack and more room to compress better the image, it would be surely more convincing. That's probably a bit better than the previous edition thanks to the 16/9 image.
