Good image for a film that age, this is far from the quality of the IVL Shaw reissues of course but it's still very largely enjoyable. The colours start off a little faded, and then its hard to make things out in the nocturnal scenes. A few annoying marks here and there. The frame is dragged towards the top of the screen because of the huge subtitles, and there's no way to switch them off.

sound

Scratchy at times, which is not necessarily a bad thing for lovers of genuine vintage footage sound, the dolby sound still manages to render beautiful nocturnal atmospheres.

subtitles

Huge subtitles, simple to read and well-paced, unremoveable. Some seem to have disappeared in rare instances.

special features

Dull filmographies which consist in endless lists. Interesting written comments from King Hu. Deserved a lot more.

menus

Stylish but tends to make you expect a better product than it actually is.

quality/price ration

Decent edition which is a good way to enjoy the film, pending the ultimate remastered edition you could dream for.
