From 1988 through 1990, Philippe Martinez was President of the famous Odeon Theater in Marseilles, one of the largest playhouses in Europe. At the end of 1990, deciding to focus on a career as a feature film producer, he moved to the United States, later becoming Chairman of the Board of distribution company Ulysses Entertainment as well as Rimb Productions, its French subsidiary, with offices in Los Angeles, Paris and London.
During his tenure as Chairman, he personally handled world distribution for the films Sexual Intent (directed by Kurt McCarley), "Baby Jesus" (directed by Doug Borghi), Where The Rivers Flow North (starring Michael J. Fox, Rip Torn, & Treat Williams), Treacherous (starring C. Thomas Howell & Tia Carrere), Getting In (1994) (starring Kristy Swanson & Andrew McCarthy) and The Night And The Moment (starring Willem Dafoe, Lena Olin & Miranda Richardson).
From 1996-1999 Philippe headed Betar Entertainment - based in Los Angeles and with offices in Montreal - producing Canadian co-productions for international distribution; he served as Executive Producer on the features Ultimate Weapon (starring Hulk Hogan) and In Her Defense (starring Marlee Matlin & Michael Dudikoff).
Since the launch of Bauer Martinez Studios, Philippe has been Executive Producer of Contract, The (1999) and The Good War, Producer (with Andreas Klein/Splendid Film) of _Piano Player, The (2002)_ , and Producer and Director of Citizen Verdict (2003).
