Rebound of HK movies

Western and European movies are very popular in HK. People here (HK) have the tendency to watch non local movies rather than the local one. This is because HK movies are not taken well when compared with the Hollywood, western one. However, I was attacted by this move - Infernal Affairs lately. This is not only because of the famous, good actors in the movies. The story itself is not so bright and definitately not an innovative one. However, the way of filming, the sound tracks, the atmosphere of the scenes impressed me so much during these recession period of HK movies. Although the story itself is not a new topic , however, this is the first movie that can reflect the grey areas (between justice and evil) so naturally throughout each secencies. And I must say that apart from the two main actors (Andy and Tony), the other actors (Mr Tsang, Mr Wong) are also the souls of the movies and their performance, needless to say, are well performed. Although it is not a big production movie (such as those of Jackie Chan), you will still find attractions insides. To understand more about HK movies, take a look at this one and then you will notice that our movie development is getting better and better and I hope that one day, you will say "wow, this production of HK can really comparable to those in Hollywood". Thank you for taking part in HK movies!!

Excellent!!!

I have a long time not seeing the HK movies......coz of their quality... However, after seeing Infernal Affairs, I love it very much! Most of the actors (especially Anthony Wong) in this movie act very excellent!!! However, Edison Chan and Shawn Yu acted not so well in this movie! I think the reason is the ones who they acted to be!!! I think it will be much better if Shawn Yu acted as Andy Lau's teenage and Edison Chan acted as Tony Leung's teenage! Shawn Yu look much similar with Andy Lau and Edison Chan look much similar with Tony Leung!!!

One of the best HK movies of this decade.

I have not been watching HK movies as frequently as I used to do since its dip in its movie standards over the last decade. However, Infernal Affairs was such a pleasant surprise to me. I didn't watch it in the cinema. In fact, my younger sister was the one who had bought the VCD and insisted on watching it with me at home. I watched it without expecting anything good out of it but wow...what a great piece of work I must say! Tony Leung definitely was the best actor in the whole movie. Andy Lau is also great as the other leading man, but somehow I find his acting a bit exaggerating at times. Anthony and Eric managed to bring the movie to life with their polished acting and chemistry. The ending may not be what I would have expected it to be but overall, this movie is really one of the best movies the HK film industry has churned out in years. The sound track was good, the cinematography was excellent, the acting was an A+, the casting was A+ and the ending, despite of its shortcomings, was A-. Go and buy or rent this movie. It will worth your money. I don't know if the hollywood remake will be as good as the original HK one...but I do hope they won't alter so much of the storyboard.
